The Crisis Committee of the Fruits and Vegetables Interprofessional of Andalusia, Hortyfruta, has again carried out its weekly analysis of the situation of greenhouse horticulture, as well as of the market situation for that sector.
Following this analysis, it has been decided to activate the Quality Standard Extension for long/black eggplant. "Thus, starting on January 31, second-class long/black eggplants grown with conventional methods in Andalusian greenhouses will cease to be marketed. This will be mandatory for all operators in Andalusia. Only the extra and first-class categories of long eggplant for fresh consumption will reach the market."

"Some anomalous circumstances have led to this context. Spring temperatures in the middle of winter and the agricultural protests in France are making it difficult for products to be delivered, which is causing even the cancellation of orders."
Concern about tomatoes
Hortyfruta is similarly concerned about the situation of all types of tomatoes, given their irregular performance, well below the standard for this time of year. "A lot of tomatoes are marketed during these weeks (with fewer tomatoes in stock than last year), so the impact of this situation, if prolonged, could be considerable."
