Gotham Greens from Seagoville, Texas, just finished their latest greenhouse. It boasts an impressive 210,000 square feet (about 5 acres) and is full of fresh leafy greens and herbs.
"This is our 13th greenhouse nationwide, bringing our total footprint to more than 40 acres (1.8 million square feet) across nine U.S. states. Our new Texas greenhouse uses the most advanced technology to date, in a fully closed system to help consistently and reliably grow food closer to where people live no matter the weather outside," says Viraj Puri, CEO and Co-Founder of Gotham Greens. "Agriculture is a huge part of the economy in Texas, which leads the U.S. in total number of farms and ranches. Our Texas greenhouse is an example of what comes next as we face ongoing extreme weather events and increased risk of drought. Our indoor farm creates the ideal conditions for plants to thrive, which means you can get fresh, sustainably grown greens year-round – no matter the season or weather (we’re looking at you, snow on the ground in Dallas)."
Go Texan
With their large new greenhouse in play, Gotham Greens says to be committed to donating fresh leafy greens, year-round, to their communities in need.
"Big greenhouses make good neighbors — we’re committed to donating fresh leafy greens, year-round, to our communities in need. In Texas, one in seven people face hunger, including one in six children. We're proud to be a part of the Texas Department of Agriculture's GO TEXAN program dedicated to showcasing products and businesses made in the Lone Star State."
