'Turkey ranks second in Europe on greenhouse agricultural areas'

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, stated that Turkey ranks second in Europe and fourth in the world in terms of greenhouse agricultural areas, and said, "In the last 21 years, greenhouse cultivation has grown by 123 percent, supplying 9,4 million tons of vegetables and fruits to the market."

In his speech at the Greenhouse Workshop held in a hotel in Antalya, Minister Yumaklı said that Antalya is the capital of greenhouse cultivation and that significant developments have been made in the field of greenhouse cultivation.

Stating that the producers produce non-stop for 365 days and feed not only Turkey but the world, Yumaklı noted that Antalya is an important city at this point.

Explaining that the current problems in the field of plant production and the future of the sector will be evaluated at the workshop, Yumaklı emphasized that they will take the results and reports into consideration at the decision-making point.

Stating that Turkey can reach 4 countries with a 67-hour flight due to its geographical location, Yumaklı noted that there is the opportunity to reach 20 percent of the world's population.
