Argentina: ToBRFV detected in Entre Ríos region

The National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa) has detected the tomato rugose virus (ToBRFV) in a plantation in Colonia Belgrano, Entre RĂos. The authority has ordered the quarantine of the production site as a preventive measure.

At the same time, monitoring will be increased in the detection area. On top of that, rigorous hygiene and disinfection measures were established.

In July of last year, Senasa declared a phytosanitary alert for the entire national territory about the disease. This measure is the focus of joint actions between the public and private sectors to determine the current situation of ToBRFV in the country, contain and eradicate outbreaks that are eventually detected, and prevent its establishment and dispersion.

In this sense, Senasa works with INTA and INASE, in close collaboration with producers and society in general, to report on the situation, share prevention and control measures, and guarantee food safety in tomato production. Early detection and coordinated actions are essential to protect agriculture and the local economy.

Suppose you suspect the presence of the pest. In that case, it is essential not to touch the plant, isolate the sector, and immediately notify the Senasa, INTA, or INASE offices closest to your production.
