Tomato farmers Bangladesh see bumper production and fair prices

Tomatoes produced in Chandina, Barura, Daudkandi, Homna, Burichang, and Debidwar are being sold in one of the country's vegetable markets in the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Nimsar Bazar. Vegetable traders from other markets in the city buy tomatoes at wholesale rates from here.

According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), the produced tomatoes have made a significant contribution to meeting the demand of Narayanganj, Feni, Noakhali, and Chattogram, including the capital Dhaka.

At present, large, medium, and small-sized tomatoes are being sold at retail rates of Taka 35 to 40 per kg. In mid-December, the market price of tomatoes was Taka 60 to 80 per kg, which the farmers were very happy with.
