In a boost to the horticultural sector, greenhouse farms in Shymkent, and the Turkestan region have received subsidies totaling over 1.8 million euros. This support is made possible by a recent amendment to the Ministry of Agriculture's Plant Subsidy Rules.
Now, farmers can offset costs for electricity, gas, and coal used in cultivating vegetables in enclosed spaces during the off-season. This regulation, implemented in 2023, aims to enhance the profitability of greenhouse vegetable production.
Subsidies have already been disbursed to greenhouse owners in the Turkestan region and Shymkent. December marks the commencement of vegetable cultivation in enclosed spaces, with subsidy amounts determined per cultivation cycle based on seedling emergence.
The total subsidy payout reached 1.1 million euros in the Turkestan region and 0.7 million euros in Shymkent. Of the 112 subsidy recipients in the Turkestan region, 106 are farmer-owned greenhouses, and 6 are industrial ones.
