Greenhouse businesses in Kazakhstan play a crucial role in the agricultural sector, contributing significantly to vegetable and green production in the face of the country's variable climate. Recently, it has become even more lucrative as the Ministry of Agriculture has revised subsidies for greenhouse growers. According to the Ministry of Agriculture's press service, these adjustments allow for the compensation of energy resource expenses (electricity, gas, coal) per hectare during the off-season.
The determination of priority crops and subsidy standards remains the responsibility of local executive bodies. The administrations of the Turkestan region and Shymkent have already established subsidy volumes and norms for greenhouse farms for the current year. Approved norms have been incorporated into the Unified State Information Subsidy System (EGISS).
As of now, 756 applications have been submitted, and 726 certificates have been issued for small-scale greenhouse operations, with 30 applications currently under review. Additionally, within investment subsidies, the Ministry of Agriculture has increased the share to 30% for projects involving the construction and expansion of greenhouse complexes. This change will take effect from December 10, 2023.
