"Zeleny Sever", a new cucumber greehouse in North Kazakhstan

In North Kazakhstan, the greenhouse complex of "Zeleny Sever" LLP has commenced operations, allocating nearly 32,000 square meters for vegetable cultivation. The first section is currently dedicated to cucumbers, with approximately 34,000 seeds from the Netherlands planted a month ago. Ekaterina Asayonok, the director of "Zeleny Sever," emphasized the meticulous selection of Dutch technology and equipment for optimal efficiency in the challenging regional climate.

The greenhouse complex is equipped with an automated climate control system due to the low temperatures, strong winds, and short daylight hours during the cold season. This system, monitored 24/7, includes drip irrigation, multi-circuit heating, and lighting with almost 11,000 fixtures. Additionally, the facility features shading, misting, and a carbon dioxide supply for photosynthesis. The complex is heated using excess steam from the Petropavlovsk CHP-2.

"Zeleny Sever" plans to produce up to three thousand tons of vegetables annually, including cucumbers, tomatoes, and herbs. The first harvest, around 70 tons of cucumbers, is expected by December 12. These locally grown vegetables will be available at major markets and regional retail chains, with plans to establish a direct sales point within the greenhouse to provide consumers with fresh produce without intermediary markups.

The entire greenhouse, with an initial focus on cucumber cultivation, will reach full capacity in the coming days. The second section, nearly twice the size of the first, will soon host around 60,000 cucumber seeds. Future expansion for herb cultivation is also planned.
