In the agricultural heartland of Kirov district, greenhouse modernization promises a year-round cucumber harvest. While the country's greenhouse vegetable production exceeds domestic demand, growing cucumbers in the early spring and winter remains a novelty. However, innovative techniques are changing the game at the OAO "Rassvet K. P. Orlovsky" in the Kirov district.
With the installation of cutting-edge equipment, one greenhouse section, illuminated by over a thousand bulbs, nurturing cucumber seedlings. The facility pioneers light-culture technology, allowing cultivation despite limited sunlight and cold weather.
At "Rassvet," spanning ten hectares, old-style facilities cover seven hectares, with the remaining three dedicated to energy-efficient, light-culture technology. This season's yield reached 4,200 tons of cucumbers and tomatoes, with expectations soaring to 300 tons using the new technology.
The farm embraces a year-round format as 3,600 additional bulbs light up the greenhouses for 16–18 hours daily. Advanced sensors will remotely activate supplementary lighting based on solar activity, ensuring optimal conditions.
