Agriculturists in the Stavropol region increased their greenhouse vegetable production

Agriculturists in the Stavropol region have increased their production of greenhouse vegetables. The growth in the production of greenhouse vegetables was due to the expansion of planting areas, said Elena Tambovtseva, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the region.

This year, agricultural producers yielded 75.9 thousand tons of greenhouse vegetables, marking a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Tomato production reached 62.2 thousand tons, while cucumbers amounted to 13.5 thousand tons. Currently, preparations are underway in the greenhouses for a new production cycle, encompassing harvesting, disinfection, and seed planting.

Currently, 12 greenhouse complexes are operating in Stavropol, with a total area of over 273 hectares, as reported by Elena Tambovtseva. Furthermore, an additional greenhouse complex spanning 37.8 hectares is set to begin operations in early autumn.

The construction work at the enterprise is almost complete, and the planting of vegetable crops is about to commence soon.

Elena Tambovtseva said that the increase in production is planning to do by using new technologies and high-yield varieties and getting government help.
