Fresh Retail Packing has taken over a packaging site in use in Jawczyce, Poland. The 3,100 m2 building has eight docks and six cold stores.
"This move is a big step forward for us. This location offers more space and facilities," says Ted van den Berg, who runs the company with Artur Tomasiuk.
"It's near the market in Gielda, next to the highway, so it's easily accessible. We want to be a hub for European exporters in the Polish market. We can entirely unburden them with our receiving, transportation, storage, labeling, sorting, packing, repacking, and distribution services."
"Retail suppliers need partners who can act as a filter of sorts between growers and supermarkets. They want goods to arrive at the stores in the agreed-upon quality and shape. That sometimes means additional or repacking boxes and pallets, damaged or not, as things can easily happen during transport," explains Ted.
"We invested heavily in our machinery and offer various packaging options, from flow packs and net packing to Girsac and clips. We're, for example, currently sorting and packing a lot of melons from Spanish suppliers, but we're involved in citrus too."
"Suppliers to the Polish market are very interested in our wide range of services. They're completely unburdened and can, thus, focus on sales," concludes Ted.
