Millions for Iribov for expansion in Ghana

Invest International is providing a €6.8 million loan to Iribov Holding for the expansion of the company's plant breeding and production services in Ghana. The loan through the Dutch Good Growth Fund, the fund Invest International manages on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will enable new lab facilities for tissue culture and expansion of the greenhouses in Sogakope.

The greenhouse capacity will eventually be doubled. This will create 200 local jobs and contribute to long-term food security in West Africa with the production of disease-free vegetable plants. The loan was made possible through a partnership with Rabobank.

Disease-free vegetable plants
Netherlands-based Iribov provides laboratory services for plant propagation through tissue culture. Tissue culture allows customers to bring a new, plant-based product to market faster. In addition, because the production process is completely isolated, the material can be delivered disease-free. Iribov has experience with more than 400 different crops in their production facilities in the Netherlands, Macedonia, and Ghana.

The laboratory facilities will be four times larger at the site near Sogakope, 110 kilometers east of Ghana's capital Accra. This will contribute to the growing global demand for tissue-based crops and supply the local West African market with mature plant material.
