The Primorsky Interregional Department of Rosselkhoznadzor, as part of monitoring the quarantine phytosanitary state of the territory of the Russian Federation, conducted surveys of 77 greenhouses where tomatoes are grown. In total, surveys were carried out on an area of 20 hectares.
The Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor examined almost a third of greenhouses that grow tomatoes in Primorye and Sakhalin. In particular, 64 greenhouses with an area of 13.4 hectares were examined in Primorye (there are 180 in total in the region), 13 greenhouses with an area of 6.6 hectares were examined in Sakhalin (32 greenhouse farms for growing tomatoes in the region).
During the monitoring, traps for the South American tomato moth are installed in greenhouses, as well as sticky traps for a complex of quarantine pests in greenhouses.
The Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor in the greenhouses of Primorye and Sakhalin selected 121 samples of plant parts for virological research by the Federal State Budget Institution subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor - the Primorsky Interregional Veterinary Laboratory and the Primorsky Branch of the All-Russian Center for Plant Quarantine.
It should be noted that Rosselkhoznadzor has strengthened control over the quarantine phytosanitary condition of greenhouses by planting tomatoes in connection with repeated cases of detection of quarantine viral diseases of tomatoes in products from China. Since the beginning of this year, five cases of detection of viral diseases (Tomato brown rugose fruit virus and Tomato spotted wilt virus) have been detected in tomatoes from China.
