Some may think it's just a teenage phase or a new year's Eve nuisance, but firecrackers have quite an important meaning in their place of birth, namely China. For instance, they are set off to inaugurate a new building, and greenhouses obviously are no less.
Chinese greenhouse manufacturer Kingpeng has indeed set off rows of firecrackers to celebrate the laying of the foundation of a new 20ha tomato glasshouse. Dogs may not appreciate that, but sometimes some things matter more than our four-legged friends.

"The function of firecrackers is to break through all repression, take away feelings of sadness and panic, and expel evil spirits," the Kingpeng team says. "When building houses in China, setting off firecrackers often symbolizes that the new house can be lively and prosperous, full of energy and vitality." The team continues to explain that when setting off such firecrackers, the first thing is to choose a good time and day. Firecrackers and then wrapped in red paper, and they write 'good luck' on it and place their rows. "The sound of firecrackers is indispensable," they say.
