"At Organifarms, we develop harvesting robots for fruits and vegetables to help growers deal with high labor costs and high labor demands. We do this by automating labor-intensive tasks. In addition to harvesting, this includes quality control of the fruit, packaging, and logistics in the greenhouse area," the founding team of the 'Berry' robot told the Stuttgarter Zeitung.
"These tasks are taken over by our robot 'Berry.' He can move autonomously through the greenhouse and work 24/7. As a result, it saves a lot of the labor costs and manpower requirements. We have two batteries that come with the product. After twelve hours, the battery has to be replaced, so in the meantime, the other one can charge. As a result, you then also don't have any downtime." The process also aims to give producers higher margins as a result of the cost savings and also to compete with products from abroad, it adds.
