"The demand for solar greenhouse roof systems continues to increase"

"The demand for solar greenhouse roof systems continues to increase. We hear more and more that growers are considering "growing" energy in addition to healthy crops. This is often very thought about lightheartedly, but really there is more to it than just taking the glass out and putting solar in," says Robin Hakkert, Sales Director at BOAL. "Retrofitting an existing greenhouse roof as well as installing a completely new solar greenhouse roof system is bound by all kinds of laws and regulations, permit processes and insurance guidelines."

BOAL Systems has seen many solar projects pass by in recent years and is happy to share its experience during GreenTech 2023. "In addition to our well-known Lumenex Solar greenhouse roof system, we will also be showing our new solar carport system," Hakkert concludes. "A robust and quick-to-install system for sustainable roofing of large and small areas."

Greenhouse Roof Lumenex Venlo
With the Lumenex™ Venlo greenhouse roof, BOAL Systems offers a system that has proven itself well in practice over the years. "This successful aluminum greenhouse roof system provides slim profiles that ensure a durable and seamless integration of glass, polycarbonate, and insulation panels, among others," says Sales Manager Fred Tanke. "This system opens up new possibilities for professionally and efficiently growing various crops internationally, especially thanks to the new vent system."

A universally applicable new ventilation window
For the Lumenex Venlo greenhouse roof system, BOAL Systems has developed a new air window that, with an aim to achieve optimum performance and durability, will certainly be well received by greenhouse builders. One of its striking advantages is its high sealing, made possible by choosing high-quality materials such as PVC with co-extrusion or rubber. This achieves excellent sealing, resulting in more efficient climate control and energy savings. Ideal when growing according to the principle of The New Cultivation.

In addition, the vent is designed to maximize proper drainage, minimizing the risk of possible freezing of the vent during colder periods. This helps protect your crops and reduces the risk of damage from extreme weather conditions. Furthermore, the vent is designed with robust cast aluminum joints, adding to its strength and durability even in demanding environments.

Another advantage of the new ventilation window is that it offers custom ventilation options, allowing it to be adjusted to meet specific crop requirements and create optimal conditions for the crop. Additionally, in the case of insect mesh integration, the new ventilation window provides an increased seal to keep out unwanted insects thanks to its coextruded mesh covers. This creates a healthier and safer growing environment without having to compromise on air circulation and ventilation.

"For the greenhouse builder, this modular (mesh) ventilation window will make a positive contribution to the construction sequence," says Tanke. " Various components, for example, can be added afterwards."

Boal F-Clean, for regions with challenging climatic and geographic conditions
Greenhouses are an essential environment for growing healthy crops efficiently and sustainably, providing optimal growing conditions. Traditionally, glass has been the main material used for greenhouse coverings as it provides transparency and protection. However, for regions with high wind pressure, glass is not always the most suitable solution. Furthermore, glass can, under some circumstances, be prone to breakage, which can make it vulnerable to natural disasters such as earthquakes, hailstorms, and hurricanes."With the increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events attributed to climate change, there is a growing need for a shatterproof alternative that can withstand these challenges and, like glass, has high UV transmittance," says Maurice Verbakel. "With our innovative BOAL F-Clean® greenhouse cover system, we prove that it is actually possible to grow safely with high yields anywhere in the world under any conditions."
