Greenhouse complex in the Far Eastern was built on Sakhalin

The most modern greenhouse complex in the Far East Federal District has been put into operation on Sakhalin. It is the largest in the region for growing vegetables in protected and open soil.

As reported by the government of the Sakhalin region, the new automated complex replaced six hectares of outdated greenhouses built in the mid-1980s. The area of the complex is almost three hectares, and with the launch of new facilities, the potential for vegetable production has increased to 10 thousand tons per year. At the initial stage, cucumbers will be grown here, and then tomatoes and other crops.

The new greenhouse will increase the area of protected soil by 20%. All necessary infrastructure is available here: a gas boiler room, engineering networks, and technological equipment. Today, the greenhouse complex year-round grows eight thousand tons of protected soil vegetables, 4.9 thousand tons of open-ground vegetables, and 4.5 thousand tons of potatoes.
