10 foil greenhouses will be built in Cukurca, Turkey as part of municipality project

Cukurca Municipality of Hakkari, Turkey, is both producing and being a role model for farmers with its greenhouse project, which it has implemented for the utilization of fertile lands in the city and the development of greenhouse production. The activities initiated 3 years ago by Cukurca Municipality to increase agricultural activities continue at full speed. The municipality, which aims to develop vegetable and fruit cultivation and to create a source of inspiration for farmers, is developing a greenhouse project in the district. Within the scope of the project carried out with the support of the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the municipality, which allocated 1 hectare of land in the Bersuk location, established two greenhouses on 1,000 square meters for trial production in this area. Municipal teams have been planting tomatoes and cucumbers in greenhouses for two years, and they have been bringing strawberry seedlings to the soil in an area of approximately 200 square meters at the back of the greenhouses. Mayor Ensar Dundar noted that Cukurca's climate and soil structure are suitable for fruit and vegetable growing, and said that, as the municipality, they continue to contribute to production with these research and development projects. Stating that they have achieved positive results in greenhouse cultivation, Dundar added that they have started preparations for the new season and that they will establish 10 new greenhouses in the same region with the project they have prepared within this scope.

Mayor Dundar said, "We planted our seedlings at a very early period with good weather conditions this year. We planted tomato and cucumber seedlings as in previous years. Again, we will supply seedlings to our citizens at affordable prices. We prepared 10 additional greenhouse projects, and if our project is accepted, we will establish 10 more greenhouses here. In previous years, thanks to these greenhouses, we were providing vegetables to our people at a more affordable price. Thanks to these projects, we are a role model for the farmers in our district. If we can also start strawberry production in this greenhouse in addition to the tomatoes and cucumbers we are already growing, I-we will set a good example for our farmers."
