The Deputy Governor of the Province of Burgenland Astrid Eisenkopf visits Veganis GmbH

Production facility is already being expanded, new greenhouse in the planning stage

Veganis GmbH, located in St. Andrä am Zicksee, is a purely organic production and trading company that focuses on high-quality organic fruit and vegetables. Founders Michael Pilsel and Christoph Mick settled in the Seewinkel community in 2012 and have since been producing organic vegetables such as tomatoes, red radishes, melanzani, and much more directly on site on the one hand and selling fruit from certified organic cultivation from all over the world on the other. In the sense of an environmentally friendly way of working, the company is also the first in Austria to rely on natural branding instead of adhesive labels. In the near future, Veganis' own production companies will join the marketing platform Biogenossenschaft Burgenland eGen as additional members.

During a visit to Veganis, Deputy Governor of Burgenland and agricultural advisor Astrid Eisenkopf spoke with the two founders, who plan to expand their company in the coming years, and was convinced of the quality of the organic products during an on-site tour.

Organic vegetables from the Seewinkel
"For me, it is important to know where our vegetables come from and how they are produced on our farms. Veganis from Seewinkel is an important organic vegetable supplier in Burgenland. The company also takes on a pioneering role in the avoidance of packaging waste - after all, Veganis was the first organic vegetable company to use laser technology on fruit and vegetables instead of adhesive labels," emphasized Deputy Governor and Agricultural Officer Astrid Eisenkopf during the company visit. The production facility is currently being expanded with an annex, and the construction of a greenhouse is also planned for the following years.

Fruit vegetables from own greenhouse cultivation
Veganis GmbH., which operates as an organically certified production and trading company, uses around 2.5 hectares of agricultural land for its own production of fruit vegetables in protected cultivation and also works with more than 30 suppliers of fruit vegetables, potatoes, and onions from the Burgenland and Lower Austria region. In addition, the company imports and distributes organic fruits and vegetables from all over the world. The company has 2,200 square meters of hall, refrigeration, storage, and office space and employs about 70 people, depending on the season.
