In one week, the average price for at the VBT rose well above 2 euros per kilo. As in week 4, vine tomato prices are still just a little better than for loose tomatoes. Week 5 prices surpass the already high prices from 2022. The same goes for cucumber.

On average, a kilo of vine tomatoes yielded €2.67 in week 5 at the auctions of the Federation of Belgian Horticultural Cooperatives. A kilo of loose tomatoes recorded €2.545.

Cucumber prices are also high at the start of a new season and after the (virtual) absence of winter crops. The unit price in Week 5 rounded up to 80.7 euro cents. In week 4, it was almost 80 euro cents.
Price of lettuce
Lettuce prices are also up slightly across the board this week. The most expensive variety from the greenhouse is Lollo Bionda. The average unit price here comes to 1.018 euros. The lamb's lettuce prices do not join the high prices in the lettuce segment. Last year too, prices mostly remained (below) average.
