"We are expecting consumption to liven up during the first six months of the new year. Consumers are more careful about food, their health, the environment, and organic products, a sector we have pioneered for over twenty years," reports Carlo Simonato, owner of Azienda Ortoflorovivaistica F.lli Simonato.
Rosanna Bertoldin, marketing manager and Carlo Simonato, owner of Azienda Fratelli Simonato.
Ortoflorovivaistica dei Fratelli Simonato is one of the leading companies in the production of organic aromatic herbs, which are grown and sold all year round. In particular, it produces basil, sage, parsley, chives, rosemary, mint, oregano, marjoram, thyme, dill, lemon balm, coriander, cress, chervil, chamomile, lavender, and licorice.
"We are getting ready for Fruit Logistica 2023 to showcase only the best of our production. We aim at strengthening and expanding our business abroad, presenting our new lines as well as the feather in our cap, i.e., the plastic-free packaging line with zero environmental impact called Bio&Paperpack. It is the maximum expression of a certified organic chain that respects the environment from cultivation to packaging, transport, display in store, and the final consumer."
"When it comes to production, as this winter seems like early spring, our plants are growing well, especially basil, mint, sage, rosemary, thyme, and oregano. 2022 ended very well, with great demand for our organic poinsettias, which reached the foreign market with high aesthetic and quality standards at a competitive market price. Our points of strength include the production and commercialization of the products as well as the research of new packaging solutions that can meet the various needs of our clients."
"We are carefully observing how climate is changing, as it sometimes requires modifying well-established cultivation methods such as the transplant times, as they are increasingly affected by the high temperatures of the period. Sometimes our greenhouses are hit by glorious sunshine, which, even though it helps us reduce heating costs, makes us wonder what season we are in. 2022 was, in fact, the eighth consecutive year with temperatures exceeding pre-industrial levels by over 1 degree Celsius, as reported by Global Climate Highlights 2022 di Copernicus, the EU's Earth Observation Program," concludes Rosanna Bertoldini.
