With an average kilogram price for vine tomatoes of almost €1.80, the price at the VBT auctions cannot yet match that of 2022, but the price is above the five-year average again. That was different in December. The average price for loose tomatoes is also rising, as is that for greenhouse varieties.
The purple dot indicates the week one price level in 2023.
The middle price for loose tomatoes comes out at a rounded €1.50. Week 1 volumes were sharply lower than the previous two years.
For all lettuce varieties, the average unit price rises. As in week 1, lollo rossa from the greenhouse is again the best paid. The unit price for lollo rossa comes to a rounded 95 euro cents. The prices for lollo bionda (62.5 euro cents) and multicolored lettuce (rounded 61 euro cents) are the lowest of the mentioned types of lettuce.
Strawberry prices rose sharply in Week 2. At last week's Strawberry Day, moderate pricing was a topic of discussion. For an exposed winter crop, a grower needs a minimum kilogram price that was far from being met, were the noises. The rise at VBT from the average price to a rounded 10.44 euros per kilo looks like it. Elsanta quoted 11.48 Euro.
