Apology after error with LED leads to 'nice and positive commentary'

It was an interesting sight: the air above the village Beek en Donk, The Netherlands, colored bright purple on the night of Monday to Tuesday. This wasn't caused by a light festival or a particular weather phenomenon, but by a small error at a nursery. RTL Nieuws picked up an apology message on behalf of Vereijken Kwekerijen.

To improve sustainability and reduce energy usage, the growers are working to convert to LED lighting. Because of a technical error, the screens meant for blacking out didn't properly close, resulting in light emission.

The growers conclude that the news traveled far, among others to Omroep Brabant and on Facebook. "What nice and positive commentary. What a technical error can do," people comment on Facebook.
