The 5th CIIE sets up a special crop seed industry area for the first time

On November 5, the 5th China International Import Expo kicked off at the Shanghai National Exhibition Center. In addition to the original agriculture and food exhibition area, this exhibition has set up a new crop seed industry area, attracting international giants in the seed industry such as Bayer, Syngenta Group, Corteva, Limagrain, and Riik Zwaan to participate in the exhibition.

Bayer set up double exhibition areas, the China exhibition area, and the agricultural product seed industry area, so that the audience can have a more comprehensive and intuitive understanding of how Bayer gathers global innovation forces to serve agriculture in China. In the agricultural product seed industry area, Bayer's vegetable brand Sannis brought "home gardening" vegetable seeds yellow and white two-color sweet corn St. Sweet Effie, and the joint venture corn company displayed six new varieties of Deca corn, which will be commercialized globally in 2023. The first exhibition of the industry's disruptive dwarf corn and intelligent corn systems, and climate-smart business models, contributing to the resilience of China's food system.

Syngenta Group's on-site large-screen interactive area explained the application of the company's digital technology in the agricultural field and conveyed its forward-looking exploration of technological services and digital empowerment.

At this exhibition, Syngenta Group exhibited high-quality crops such as peppers, tomatoes, pumpkins, sweet corn, etc., including purple tomatoes YOOM, yellow and purple cauliflower, and other innovative fruits and vegetables designed to meet daily consumption and consumption better. These are the result of the close integration of agriculture and technology by Syngenta Group.

Bright Homeport (Shanghai) Seed Technology Co., Ltd. is an innovative and open agricultural technology highland under Bright Food Group dedicated to provenance agriculture, technology agriculture, smart agriculture, boutique agriculture, brand agriculture, and creative agriculture. At the exhibition site, the companies showcased its "Plant Factory."

In this exhibition, Bright Food Group also exhibited crop varieties with its own intellectual property rights, cooperative development property rights, and exclusive intellectual property rights, including rice, wheat, imported flowers, and strawberries that were tested for planting. By touching the pictures, the audience can see the detailed introduction of the seed on the screen.

Riik Zwaan exhibited a number of high-quality vegetable varieties, such as sweet peppers, eggplants, melons, celery, cucumbers, specialty tomatoes, and cabbage. Sweet balsamic peppers (available in red, yellow, orange, and chocolate) are very eye-catching. 

In response to the market consumption trend in recent years, Riik Zwaan has developed, and launched tasty seed products and snack vegetables, and the unique small tomato varieties were displayed on the spot.

Limagrain joined hands with its subsidiaries, Hengji Limagrain Seeds, Hazera Seeds, and Vilmorin-Mickado Seeds, to set up a booth in the Crop Seed Industry Zone of the CIIE. Limagrain Group is an agricultural cooperative owned by French farmers and a multinational seed industry group dedicated to the research and development, breeding, production, processing, and sales of field seeds, vegetable seeds, and flower seeds. It covers a grain industry chain from breeding to grain and food.

For the first time, Corteva participated in CIIE, China's highest-standard international trade exhibition. At its debut at the Expo, Corteva joined hands with two joint venture partners in China to exhibit in the seed industry and agricultural products zone and jointly presented the audience with improved corn seeds, seed coating agents, biological agent plant protection solutions, and flight control technology solutions. A series of innovative agricultural technologies and sustainable planting methods have attracted the attention of exhibitors.
