Ab van Marrewijk bids farewell as Tomatoworld grower

During a grower event on the energy crisis at Tomatoworld, the grower of Tomatoworld, Ab van Marrewijk, said goodbye. For the past 2.5 years, he was busy growing almost 24/7 in the greenhouse with 40 tomato varieties, with videos and, above all, a lot of new techniques. Ab no longer wants to be busy 24/7 ("the nature of the beast") but will still do projects for Greenco as a consultant in Kenya and also privately.

Miranda van den Ende, director of Tomatoworld, addressed Ab during the drinks reception with much admiration and gratitude for his work.

Ab himself, during his presentation at the grower event, also paused to reflect on all the techniques he learned to work with. He specifically mentioned drones following the recent drone event, which had particularly impressed him with the Corvus Drones drone. Flying among tomato plants, this drone collected valuable data for growers. He also mentioned the measurements Vivent performs with electro-physical sensors in Tomatoworld, in which Ab was closely involved as a grower, as being special.

A successor to Ab has already been found in the person of Nico Ammerlaan. He has been working in Tomatoworld's greenhouse since September, where there is still a crop until mid-November.

Ab himself, as mentioned, will remain active, so there is certainly a chance that people will run into him at Tomatoworld as well. Or he might be off sailing because that is one of his hobbies for which he also wants to make time.
