Yara closes 2nd ammonia plant, cheaper to import than self-produce

Last week, Norwegian fertilizer producer, Yara, shut down the second of its three ammonia plants, reports Dutch regional broadcaster Omroep Zeeland. Company spokesman Gijsbrecht Gunter is not yet sure by how much production will be reduced; that depends on many factors. He also does not want to speculate because it is competition-sensitive information. Yara now wants to import ammonia, which is cheaper than making it themselves.
