Construction progresses at High Life Highland's Inverness Botanic Garden

CambridgeHOK is currently on-site at the beautiful Inverness Botanic Garden, operated by High Life Highland, building a new 30 x 8m Venlo glasshouse.

Working for The Highland Council, CHOK will be adding the new facility to a number of impressive glasshouses already on site, which grow a diverse range of plants from the tropical rainforests to arid, heat-scorched deserts.

Although the new glasshouse will not be open to the public, it will be essential to enable the Inverness Botanic team to keep the year-round color and interest in the Garden's tropical and cactus house, adding to their high environmental standards, which include the use of a biomass boiler for heat, rainwater collection system, and screens to shade the plants as well as reducing thermal loss at night.

Having started on site last month, CHOK have already completed all the foundation's works and recently erected the structural steelwork framing.

The concrete slab installation works are to be completed next, ahead of glazing, and then the installation of automatic vents, shade screens, and basic electrics.
