France: mixed report for SIVAL 2022

The International Plant Production Techniques Exhibition (SIVAL) closed its doors last Thursday after three days of conversations and meetings at this unique fair in France, where materials and services were showcased for specialized plant productions: arboriculture, vegetable crops, seeds, viticulture, horticulture, medicinal and aromatic plants, cider, mushrooms.

This 35th edition saw a lot of exhibitors and novelties, as well as areas dedicated to training and jobs, conferences, round tables - not to mention technological innovation with the SIVAL Innovation competition.

Postponed to March this year, after being canceled in 2021, the exhibitors were expecting a lot from this edition. Especially after two years of pandemic, with increasingly frequent weather hazards and a constant rise in production costs,  there's a need to meet again and exchange for professionals of the sector.

Despite a globally lower attendance and a rather “disappointing” first day for some exhibitors due to the date of the event, more people eventually came to the exhibition during the last two days. And for the professionals who were at the show, the quality of the exchanges was good, although the attendance was lower than in previous years.
