BelOrta has its first beefsteak tomatoes of the season. Wim and Brecht Vertommen of the 'Den Overkant' farm presented these to the Belgian cooperative. "Thanks to their unique shape and full, fresh flavor, beefsteak tomatoes are perfect for welcoming spring and summer to our region," says a BelOrta representative.
Almost 20 years experience
BelOrta is a beefsteak tomato pioneer and is now Benelux's largest beefsteak tomato producer. The 'Den Overkant' family business has almost 20 years of experience in growing this truly southern summer item. That means their tomatoes perfectly meet customer needs and requirements. 'Den Overkant' succession is also assured, now that son Brecht is joining the company.
In 2021, BelOrta's growers supplied more than 3 million kg beefsteak tomatoes. A similar quantity, at least, is expected this season. BelOrta's growers harvest these tomatoes per client color choice. This unusual tomato is, thus, hugely popular not only in Belgium but abroad too. BelOrta offers beefsteak tomatoes in various sizes, ranging from three to six kilo, but small packaging is also possible. These tomatoes are at their best from March to November.
