"China's started late in horticulture, but it has developed rapidly"

Kaisheng Haofeng (Puyang) Smart Agriculture Industrial Park started planning in 2020 and was completed and put into production at the end of 2021. The project, undertaken by China National Building Materials International Engineering Co., Ltd., uses a number of Dutch technologies, including Hoogendoorn's climate control system. Lin Zhiqiang, Sales Director of Hoogendoorn China, said, "This greenhouse is the largest single glass greenhouse in Henan. It was designed and supervised by Dutch greenhouse builder Debets Schalke and adopts ultra-clear glass independently developed and produced by China National Building Materials Kaisheng Group. The greenhouse covers an area of 5.5 hectares and mainly grows tomatoes. The first ones were planted at the end of November 2021. This project uses one of Hoogendoorn's most advanced control systems - IIVO system, which provides a data-driven approach to cultivation. Through big data and the internet, it's possible to control and maximize elements such as natural gas, fertilizer, and water."

Lin Zhiqiang said, "In recent years, a large number of glass greenhouses have been built in China. The government's support for protected agriculture has continued to increase. At the same time, growers are becoming more and more professional and paying more attention to the practicality of greenhouses. Many state-owned enterprises have participated in the upgrading of agricultural modernization, and CNBM is one of them. Nearly 150 hectares of projects have been completed or put into operation in Dezhou, Qingdao, Puyang, and Fuping. "China's greenhouse horticulture started late. However, it has developed rapidly. In the past, not only the design of the glass greenhouse, but all the parts and components came from the Netherlands, Spain, Israel, and other countries; now with the improvement of the technical strength of domestic greenhouse companies, some parts and components have been localized, and the cooperation between foreign greenhouse companies and domestic companies has become closer and closer. "

The advantage of Hoogendoorn environmental control computers lies in the openness and compatibility of their systems. Our systems can be matched with foreign or domestic fertilizer spreaders, sterilizers, boilers, and other hardware. Growers can choose equipment from their own usage habits and cost control. Hoogendoorn's latest IIVO system allows you to view and control your greenhouse anytime, anywhere. You can create control interfaces and add influence factors according to your wishes. The system can also be automatically upgraded for free so that you can always experience the latest version and the latest functions. There are also a few suppliers of greenhouse environmental control systems in China. The technology is constantly improving, and the users are more specialized.

One of the major challenges for foreign companies entering China is localization. How to do a good job of service and provide help to growers in a timely manner is a problem we are very concerned about. Hoogendoorn currently has 5 technical engineers and trainers in China. All the installation, commissioning and after-sales service of the project site can be independently completed by domestic engineers, which can serve local customers well. Knowledge knows no borders, we are very happy to share knowledge and have online training sessions every two weeks. We will invite our experts at home and abroad to answer the questions raised by growers. Customers like this kind of technology sharing very much, and the number of online users is more than 700 each time.

Energy cost is a very concerning issue for growers, and we will give a reasonable strategy according to the actual situation of the project. Some projects use the waste heat of chemical plants, cement plants and other factories to heat the greenhouse. For example, Shandong Haoyu Group, Shandong Huawo Cement and Tsingsky Mengdian Power Plant use the waste heat of power plants or cement plants to provide heat sources for greenhouse heating in winter. It reduces energy costs and actively responds to green emission reduction. The Chinese government is also happy to move forward with such projects.

Since the Spring Festival this year, the prices of tomatoes and fresh-cut roses have been very good, boosting the confidence of growers, and the progress of some projects has accelerated. In the past, the greenhouse facilities for planting flowers in Yunnan were rudimentary, and basically only served as a shelter from wind and rain. In recent years, Yunnan's facilities have begun to upgrade, more high-end multi-span greenhouses have appeared, and more and more soilless cultivation and integrated water and fertilizer transformations have been made. Some big companies and groups such as Yuntianhua, Huahuagang, Kaiyuan Chuangsen, and Yingmao have big plans for flower planting. The climatic conditions in Yunnan are relatively good, and temperature and light are his innate advantages, which is why many investors take a fancy to Yunnan. Because of this, some areas in Yunnan have become hard to find a location for greenhouses, and rents have risen.
