According to statistics, in 2021, the transaction volume of cherry tomatoes in the Jiaxing fruit market increased by 23.47% year on year; the transaction volume increased by 35.30% year on year, and the average price was 23.7 RMB/kg, a year-on-year increase of 9.58%. From January to March 2022, the transaction volume of cherry tomatoes increased by 12.04% year on year; the transaction value increased by 12.61% year-on-year.
Cherry tomatoes are produced in many places, such as Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Shandong, Ningxia, Fujian, Yunnan and other places. The ones currently on sale are mainly from Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan. The cherry tomatoes in Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan mainly start to enter the market in November, with peak seasons in February and March. Since April, the cherry tomatoes in Shandong are gradually listed and continue until the cherry tomatoes in Guangxi and Hainan are listed again, while the cherry tomatoes in Ningxia are on the market for a short time, mainly concentrated in the three months of August, September and October.
Compared with other producing areas, the taste of cherry tomatoes from Guangdong and Hainan is better than those from Guangxi. At present, Guangdong has the best taste in the market, so they are also significantly different in price. The average price in Guangdong is 16-18 RMB/kg; the average price in Hainan is 16 RMB/kg; the average price in Guangxi and Shandong is 14-16 RMB/kg.
