Overall, production costs have increased by 15 to 30%. Légumes de France is warning about the difficulties faced by the producers.
The increase in costs is affecting all sectors: up to 300% more for electricity, 600% for gas, 100% for fertilizers, and 35% for agricultural plastics. And the list continues to grow with a 30 to 40% increase for cardboard crates and 3.1% for labor.
The Federation also points to the lack of support from the French government or from mass retailers. Producers are left alone to manage these higher costs. Légumes de France is concerned about their future, as they will not be able to continue this way.
