Azerbaijan's Food Safety Agency has stated that, since February 10 of this year and after having reviewed the results of the phytosanitary control carried out in the tomato and apple cultivation companies, the laboratory sampling protocols taken from these products, and having analyzed the Agency's control measures, Russian authorities had allowed 16 companies to export tomatoes and apples to that country.
The regular talks between the Food Safety Agency and Russia's Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) and the expansion of the constructive dialogue to resolve bilateral trade problems between both countries are yielding positive results.
So far, the Russian entity has authorized 277 companies to export tomatoes and 77 companies to export apples. These companies have the potential to export 385,460 tons of tomatoes and 186,948 tons of apples.
