Spanish purchases of Moroccan courgette have decreased by 37.34% in the last four years, taking into account the period from January to November, according to data compiled by Hortoinfo from the Estacom statistical service. The volume of Moroccan courgette that Spain imported went from 13.07 million kilos worth 8.15 million euro in the period from January 1 to November 30, 2018, to 8.19 million kilos worth 7.06 million euro in the same period of 2021.
In the same period, the price increased from an average of €0.62/kg in 2018 to €0.86/kg between January-November 2021.
Spanish exports increase
In the same period, Spanish courgette exports experienced constant growth, achieving a 24.5% increase in the January-November period between 2018 and 2021.
In 2018, Spain exported 329.84 million kilos of courgette worth 282.47 million euro and an average price of €0.86/kg. In the same period of 2021, it exported 410.68 million kilos for 362.02 million euros and an average price of €0.88/kg.
