The four cooperatives Océane and Vitaprim (Loire-Atlantique), Solarenn (Ille-et-Vilaine) and Kultive (Loiret) have just formed a new Association of Producer Organizations called “French Producers”.
“Our objective is to group volumes at certain times of the year in order to respond collectively to clients and therefore sell our products when production levels are very high,” explains Laurent Bergé, president of the association, president of Océane and the PDO Tomatoes and Cucumbers of France.
The role of the new association will be to negotiate volumes and prices, on behalf of the organizations of producers, for commercial actions decided at the beginning of the year by the supermarket chains.
“For Solarenn, it is a way to access certain markets. We can predict that 10 to 20% of our production will be marketed by the association, but we won’t go any further,” explains Christophe Rousse, president of Solarenn. The managers also indicate that more organizations of producers could soon be joining the association.
