Bahrain consumers were taken aback after the prices of cucumbers hit the roof at the Bahrain Central Market. The price of one carton increased from BD2.5 to BD8 on Monday before dropping down again, to BD5.5 yesterday.
One vegetable and fruit trader at the Central Market, said the price rise could be attributed to lack of supplies, especially from Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The prices of many other fruits and vegetables also saw an increase owing to lack of supplies this week.
