As of now, different varieties of strawberries such as Xueyuan, Hongyu, and Miaoxiang are gradually entering the picking period in various places. In a greenhouse in Jinshan District, Shanghai, freshly ripened "Xueyuan Strawberries" hung on the vines, white and pink in color, and sold for as much as 200 RMB/kg.

This kind of strawberry has a sweet and sour taste, which is a bit similar to the taste of a pineapple. In terms of price, since the output is only half of the ordinary strawberry, and the strawberry ripening period, in general, is late this year, the current price of "Xueyuan Strawberry" reaches 200 to 300 RMB/kg. It is expected that in mid-to-late January, as the output rises, the price will drop slightly.
Compared with ordinary strawberries, the "Xueyuan Strawberry" has a pink color. The taste is not like the traditional "Zhangji" and "Hongyan". It has a full milky fragrance, similar to pineapple. "This strawberry has a pineapple flavor, sweet and sour. It tastes better than red strawberries, and it is also fresh and sweet," said Xiao Hongmei, the head of Shanghai Fuyi Fruit and Vegetable Cooperative.
It is understood that the registered variety of "Xueyuan Strawberry" is "Baimeimei No. 2", which is domesticated from the wild strawberry of Tibet Plateau as the female parent. According to Li Jianlin, an agronomist from the Agricultural Technology Extension Center of Jinshan District, most of the ordinary white strawberry varieties on the market are foreign varieties, while the "Xueyuan Strawberry" is a domestic white strawberry with intellectual property rights. And it is also the only white strawberry variety registered by the Ministry of Agriculture so far. The planting area is about 93 hectares in China.

In fact, in recent years, white strawberries on the market have been sought after by consumers because of their rare color and scarce production, and their prices are also very expensive. In order to increase farmers' benefits and meet market demand, Jinshan District has promoted the cultivation of about 4.6 hectares of "Xueyuan strawberry" this year.
