Dutch cucumbers: fresh harvest all year round

Almost one year ago, Dutch cucumber growers Reijm en Zn. komkommerkwekerij BV reorganized their horticultural company and expanded it considerably with acquisition and subsequent relocation to Zevenhuizen. The new horticultural company has a total area of 11.5 hectares, of which 6 hectares are equipped with assimilation lighting.

To meet the increased market demand for Dutch cucumbers grown all year round, the company wanted to expand its illuminated cultivation area and was looking for a suitable partner and an optimal lighting solution for its high-quality cucumber production.

DLI and Ushio joined their efforts to offer a perfectly matching lighting solution to Reijm en Zn and installed the most efficient 1000W HPS available on the market the Horturion® HPS 1000 W supra plus lamp from Ushio.

The light sources come from Ushio. The HORTURION® supra plus 1000 W lamp with a light output of 2180 µmol/s is the most efficient HPS 1000 W lamps currently available on the market. Developed in Germany and produced in the ultra-modern production facility at Ushio Poland, they are a perfect match with the DLI luminaire.
