The wintering area has undergone an expansion in Almería during the past season. According to Cajamar's Analysis of the 2020/21 fruit and vegetable season in Almeria, the area occupied by greenhouses has grown by 1.6% over the previous season totaling 32,554 hectares.

According to the report, if the winter and spring productions were added, the greenhouse surface used in the last season would add up to 64,672 hectares.
