Continuous monitoring of processes with the aim of optimization

After an intensive assessment process, which started in 2011, Hoogendoorn Growth Management was awarded the HortiQ certificate in 2012. The certificate serves as a quality mark for organizations that supply installations, systems, and services to the greenhouse horticulture sector for transport, CO2, control, heat, and water technology. The certificate is proof of professionalism and a guarantee that clear procedures and criteria have been laid down and are being observed. Martin Helmich, CCO of Hoogendoorn and active member of the HortiQ management committee, explains the importance of this certificate and the follow-up of HortiQ Next Level.

For Hoogendoorn, quality and transparency are important values when it comes to the products and services they supply. Besides the HortiQ certificate, the company also has the ISO9001 and even the ISO 27001 certificates, a globally recognized standard for information security. Martin says: “We value quality. The great thing about HortiQ is that internal processes are monitored annually, so you are constantly improving your business processes.”

Security and quality
According to Hoogendoorn, the HortiQ certificate is a requirement for being able to offer quality and assurance, especially if a company operates internationally. This also applies to them. Today, Hoogendoorn is active in over 100 countries and 80% of its turnover comes from foreign projects. Colleagues of Hoogendoorn work from different offices in the Netherlands, Canada, the USA, Mexico, and China.

“All over the world, you see more and more investors active in the food market. This also means that internationally larger and more high-tech projects are being realized. Those investors want quality assurance and risk mitigation, so that’s where HortiQ comes in. We can offer security and quality to those investors thanks to this certification,” says Helmich.

HortiQ Next Level
In November 2021, the HortiQ Next Level policy plan was announced. This means that, by 2022, the entire supply chain will need a HortiQ certificate. In this way, HortiQ will make an important positive contribution to the position of the Dutch horticultural sector in the rapidly developing market of international suppliers. Hoogendoorn also supports this initiative. “A good initiative, because it focuses on the entire chain. Not just the greenhouse, but everything in it will soon be certified. That will strengthen the position of Dutch companies on the international market in the future,” according to Helmich.
