US fresh vegetable import volume continues steady growth

Recent USDA data shows US fresh vegetable import volumes continue to witness a steady growth. Last year, 77 million pounds of fresh vegetables came in from Mexico.

The chart above compares annual changes in volumes of fresh vegetable imports from Mexico, Canada, and all other countries between 2008 and 2020, showing steady growth over time.

Imports of bell peppers in the period 2018-2020 saw an increase of  110% compared to one decade earlier.

The change in volume of bell pepper imports from Canada by season shows a marked increase in summer and autumn imports from the 2008-10 time span to the 2018-20 time span.
