Iranian greenhouse produce and export growing steadily

Mohammad Mehdi Boroumandi, Deputy Minister of Horticulture of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture, stated that "until 2013, we had 8,000 hectares of greenhouses in the country, but today the level of greenhouses in the country has increased to 23,117 hectares and by the end of 2021, it will exceed 25,000 hectares" while attending the inauguration of the national projects of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture in Qazvin province. 

He then added: "in 2013, we produced a maximum of 1.4 million tons of vegetables and summer products in the greenhouses, but today we have exceeded 4.5 million tons, and in these 8 years, 3 million tons have been added to our greenhouse production capacity."

Boroumandi continued: "in the production of flowers from 1.5 billion flower branches in 2013, we have reached more than 4 billion flower branches, which in addition to domestic demand has export capacity for the country." He then mentioned: "last year, the horticulture sector had $3 billion in foreign exchange earnings, which were in addition to meeting domestic demand."

Boroumandi also mentioned that one of the projects, which was emphasized by the Minister of Jihad-Agriculture, is the canopy (Sayehbaan) plan that will be put into operation today, and is a new step in agriculture and creates suitable climatic conditions for production. Therefore, the implementation of the canopy (Sayebaan) plan is a very valuable and new work.
