Nanyang, China: Renewing the old wasteland into greenhouses

Years ago, Dengzhou City was the area where soil was dug out for the South-North water transfer project in China, channeling freshwater from the Yangtze River in southern China to the more arid and industrialized north through three canal systems. This former wasteland has now been transformed into a modern agricultural demonstration park covering more than 153 hectares.

In recent years, Dengzhou City has focused on the industrial development of the area by establishing an industrial demonstration park. As shown on the pictures, tonnes of watermelons and other fruits and vegetables are grown here.
