€20 million investment in the Czech Republic and Slovakia

Smurfit Kappa continues to increase its processing capacity in Europe with a new 20 M€ investment

Smurfit Kappa, a leading player in the paper and corrugated packaging sector, has announced investments totaling €20 million in four major projects that will increase its processing capacity in Europe. Three of these are in the Czech Republic, at the company's sites in Žebrák, Žimrovice and Olomouc, and one in Slovakia, at Smurfit Kappa Štúrovo. This investment will allow the company to improve the quality of its service to regional and international customers.

Investments will be made in the installation of new equipment, which will increase the company's annual capacity in Europe by more than 100 million boxes (including offset printing). The new state-of-the-art equipment will allow the mills to meet their customers' growing demand for sustainable paper packaging and to consistently deliver high-quality solutions. These four projects are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

"This significant investment shows Smurfit Kappa's commitment to further developing its presence in Eastern Europe," says Edwin Goffard, Chief Operating Officer of Smurfit Kappa Europe Corrugated. "Both from a standpoint of the products manufactured here and a geographic one, Smurfit Kappa's plants in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are ideally suited to serve a constantly evolving and growing market. This investment will undoubtedly contribute to further business growth."

Zdenek Suchitra, Managing Director of Smurfit Kappa Czech Republic and Slovakia, added: "We are delighted to witness the continued growth and success of our customers here in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. This new investment will ensure that we are excellently equipped to meet a wide range of our customers' needs and to continue to offer the market our high-quality solutions, as well as the highest efficiency found in this category."
