Armenia imports large amount of tomatoes & cucumbers from Turkey

A recent article from the Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia stated that Armenia has imported a large amount of tomatoes and cucumbers from Turkey. The newspaper learned from the Armenian State Revenue Committee that 1,732,400 tons of tomatoes entered Armenia from Turkey last year. In 2019, Armenia imported 2,893,100 tons.

AN as yet unknown amount of tomatoes and cucumbers was imported from Iran, too. Zhoghovurd wrote out that apricots were imported to Armenia not only from Iran, Georgia, but from Turkey as well.

Some say that the import of tomatoes and cucumbers of Turkish and Iranian origin is a big blow to local production, as imported tomatoes and cucumbers are sold at a rather cheap price in the markets and supermarkets.
