Belgian and Dutch sausages to contain bell peppers and beans

In the Netherlands and Belgium, Unox is well-known for its smoked sausages. These aren't going anywhere. But the sausage, soup, and stew maker is going to use less meat in its products. Beans will be the star of the show. Not surprisingly, they'll be included in sausages and minced meat.

For Unox, this means that they're be replacing some of the meat in their chipolata sausages. That will be with products like kidney beans and bell peppers. This is set to start in May of this year already.

The brand wants to have doubled its meat replacer range by 2025. To this end, they're developing part meat/part vegetable and legume products.

Unox is going to add even more vegetables and pulses to its soups too. And the percentage of vegetarian soups will grow from 42% to 60%. The company will also process protein-rich broad beans into its sausages and minced meat.
