The first Dutch cucumbers from domestic growers were sold again this morning at Witkamp in Poeldijk. "Our emphasis has always been on the typical Westland greenhouse vegetables: tomato and cucumber. We work with a fixed group of tomato and cucumber growers who guarantee an adequate supply twelve months a year. With the new harvest of Dutch cucumbers, we are entering the new season in good spirits," says sales manager Morris Peters.
"The start of the season is good. The prices of Spanish cucumbers are terribly high, so we are meeting a need with our Dutch quality cucumbers. Demand was good this morning from both our Dutch and English customers. We already have a good distribution available between 35'ers, 40'ers and 50'ers and that volume will only increase in the coming period. We look forward to the coming season with confidence."
