Agricultural and horticultural businesses can again receive funding from the Federal Energy Efficiency Program. The German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) is using the new directive to provide special support for projects that expand the use of renewable energies for internal company use and thus contribute to reducing CO2 emissions.
Under the new funding conditions, the amount of the grant is calculated according to the funding efficiency. Thus, projects with a high CO2 savings potential will receive higher funding. Up to 40 percent of the eligible expenses will be subsidized.
What will be funded?
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved in primary production can now apply for energy consulting services for the development of overall operational CO2 savings concepts. Interested companies can now find approved, expert energy consultants via a newly established register of experts of the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE) at www.sachverstaendigensuche-energieeffizienz.de.
Applications for the promotion of investments in technical measures are possible from 1 November 2020. In addition to individual measures to increase energy efficiency, the funding program also includes the modernization of existing plants and the construction of new plants to reduce CO2 emissions. Newly included is the promotion of self-generated, regenerative energy for internal company use and the promotion of mobile devices and machines that use regenerative energy.
