Japan donates seed worth $950,000 to growers in Rwanda

The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) of Rwanda has signed a support agreement with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to support the COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan of the Rwandan government through the provision of quality vegetable seeds worth US $950,000 USD.

This support will target vegetable value chains of French beans, onions, tomatoes, carrots, cabbages, green peppers, eggplants and amaranths to be distributed and cultivated on approximately 2,100 ha across the country in 18 districts.

In order to promote farmers’ self-reliance & scale up the benefits of this support, JICA's support covers 50%, while farmers contribution is also 50%. This results into a total of 4,200 ha of vegetables to be cultivated.
