Australian town took in backpackers amidst pandemic

In the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, very strict border restrictions were put in place in Western Australia. This meant that the region was cut off from the rest of Australia and the world. 

The community of Manjimup foresaw an upcoming worker shortage, and welcomed backpackers. The rest of Australia was turning them away.
